Harrisburg, Oct. 23, 2013 – State Sen. Jim Brewster (D-Allegheny/Westmoreland) presented a Senate citation to Mayor Richard Hrivnak of Plum Borough to honor the area’s designation as the sixth safest city to live in the nation.
“According to the geographic research company NeighborhoodScout, Plum Borough is one of the safest cities to call home,” said Brewster. “I’m pleased it’s getting this well-deserved recognition.”
The ranking was awarded to Plum Borough in late 2012 based on reported crimes and risk analysis of United States cities with more than 25,000 residents.
“The fact that Plum Borough is considered safer than such a high percentage of cities across the country is a testament to its leaders and citizens who have worked to make the community a better place to live,” Brewster said.
The Unity/New Texas neighborhoods were recognized as the safest areas of Plum Borough, followed by Renton, Saltsburg Road/New Texas Road, Borough Center, Holiday Park and Regency Park.
