McKeesport, June 10, 2013 – State Senator Jim Brewster recognized 13 local emergency service providers as well as other key groups of the Mon River Fleet for their efforts to combat influenza by administering 6,000 vaccines from mid-September through January 21st to citizens in communities across the Mon Valley Region.
“The collaborative effort of these medical service providers along with the Division of Immunizations of the Pennsylvania Department of Health, UPMC McKeesport Pharmacy, and the Mon River Fleet has meant a great deal to the health and welfare of the communities they serve,” Brewster said. “I am pleased to honor all involved and their efforts to prevent influenza and safe lives.”
The medical service providers were recognized for their efforts at the annual Mon River Fleet EMS Awards Luncheon on Friday, June 7. They received certificates for their work in administering the flu shots.
