Harrisburg, July 30, 2013 – State Sen. Jim Brewster (D-Allegheny/Westmoreland) issued the following statement about the recent death of former Gov. William Scranton Jr.:
“William Scranton was an honorable and dedicated Governor, and Pennsylvania is stronger because of his work as a leader. He applied that same bold leadership to each of his various roles as a public servant throughout the years. We should be forever grateful for his service to the state. My thoughts are with his family as they mourn the loss of this exemplary man.”
Scranton served as Governor of Pennsylvania from 1963 to 1967 and was an ambassador to the United Nations. He was 96 years old when he died on Sunday.
