Duquesne, PA, September 6, 2024 – State Sen. Jim Brewster is “Strong as Steel,” according to the Pennsylvania Steel Alliance, an industry group that brings together labor and business to advance steel manufacturing in the Keystone State.
The group presented Brewster with its first-ever “Strong as Steel Award” citing “his distinguished public service, representing the Mon Valley communities and supporting the steel Industry and steel workers.”
“Jim has always displayed an ability to work closely with leaders from labor and industry to address concerns and find common ground to achieve mutually beneficial solutions,” said Alliance Executive Director Chris Masciantonio. “We congratulate him on his outstanding career and public service.”
Brewster, a former McKeesport mayor who is retiring this fall after 14 years in the state Senate, said he always sought collaboration over confrontation.
“I’m grateful to the Steel Alliance for this recognition and for the work they do in fostering cooperation in the steel industry,” Brewster said. “There’s always a way to find common ground no matter the challenge.”
Masciantonio was joined by Co-Chairs Bernie Hall, a United Steel Workers District Director, and Mark Jeffrey, of US Steel’s Mon Valley Works, in presenting the award to Brewster at US Steel’s Mon Valley Hub in Duquesne this week.
